Web 3.0 is an idea for a new iteration of the World Wide Web which incorporates concepts such as decentralization, blockchain technologies, and token-based economics. Some technologists and journalists have contrasted it with Web 2.0, wherein they say data and content are centralized in a small group of companies sometimes referred to as "Big Tech".
A group of technologies like Blockchain, Distributed Ledger, Decentralized Data, Tokenization of Assets etc. that make up the third generation of the Internet, has rapidly developed over the last several years. The ecosystem now boasts thousands of companies and more than $80 billion of start-up funding from venture capital, hedge funds, private equity, and other investors. Corporations have begun to think about how web3 will influence their business and what challenges or benefits this new tech could unlock.
This new domain has potential to disruptively impact Business and Society and as professionals we should stay abreast and on top of this domain.
